Today, I find my inspiration from Maya Angelou’s poem, “Still I Rise.” I think a lot people have felt what I’m feeling right now, discouraged, petty or even sometimes not wanted. But, I am here to tell anyone who may feel hopeless or fearful, that you are not alone. Life is not always sunshine, there will be rainy days sometimes even stormy days. But your character is not measured by how many weak-points you have, rather it’s measured by how you overcome those weak-points. I’m still trying to make my dream become true and I still have those negative thoughts and nay-sayers. My hope lies inside of me not others. I know I have the power, I just have to have the faith and remove the fear to accomplish that dream. So with this said Happy M.L. King Holiday and lets make 2016 a great and productive year! Keep Dreaming my Friends!

This is the last stanza of Angelou’s poem:

Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
